What:   “American Samurai in France: Japanese Americans Liberate Bruyères-en-Vosges, October, 1944”

                  Presented by Dr. James T. McIlwain, Professor Emeritus of Neuroscience, Brown University.

                 This is the story of the U.S. 442 Regimental Combat Team composed largely of Japanese-Americans who liberated villages in the Vosges region of France during World War II.

Where:  The Redwood Library

                 50 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI

When: Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 6:00 p.m

Cost: This event is free to members of The Alliance Française of Newport and members of The Redwood Library.

What: An Afternoon of Pétanque!

Pétanque is a quintessential French sport which has its roots in Provence and is now being played in Newport.

Where: At an Alliance member’s home in Newport

When: Sunday, May 19th, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.

Cost: This event is free to members of The Alliance Française of Newport.

RSVP:  Reservations are necessary.

Other: Wine and pastries will be provided!
